The 8th edition of JIIFF took place from January 6th to 14th, with five films in competition and screenings at the Fishermen's Bay, the old Pueblo Garzón Train Station, and the La Mallorquina farm. The screen opened with the out-of-competition film, Coco, which we programmed in partnership with Disney on Three Kings' Night.

We organized in alliance with the former ICAU (now ACAU) the 2nd edition of Usina del Sur, a space to contribute to the internationalization of Uruguayan cinema and audiovisual by strengthening the post-production stage of feature films specially selected for this activity. The juries for this edition of Usina del Sur were Amalia Serrulla (Spain), Mauricio Kinoshita (Brazil) and Sandro Fiorín (Brazil) who selected two projects from Argentina, one from Cuba, two from Uruguay and one co-production from Panama / Costa Rica / El Salvador / Guatemala / Honduras / Nicaragua.
