JIIFF's industry program
Working JIIFF is the José Ignacio International Film Festival's industry program, dedicated to the professional development and networking of producers, directors, screenwriters, industry managers, and other professionals in the sector. Leading figures from the local and international industry gather in person to make, and to think through, the films that will be seen in the years to come.
The 2027 edition, held alongside the festival's 17th edition, brings together four areas: JIIFF Lab, Generación J, Revoluçao Latam, Uruguay HUB Audiovisual, and a MasterClass.
JIIFF Lab is a development lab for Ibero-American fiction features. It is aimed at duos made up of an emerging director and an experienced producer. Eight projects, represented by sixteen participants, at least two of them Uruguayan, work through one-on-one consultations, mentoring with international professionals, and networking sessions. The program includes two online sessions during January and five in-person days in José Ignacio, from January 27 to 31, 2027. It closes with a pitch before a specially convened jury, which awards the following prizes:
- Fondo Pfeffer del Sur: US $50,000 for the development of an Ibero-American project linked to the Uruguayan audiovisual industry. Awarded by Working JIIFF, for the third time, together with the Pfeffer family.
- Musitelli Film & Digital: the equivalent of US $50,000 in film equipment rental for the production stage.
- COLOUR by Grup Mediapro: a comprehensive post-production package worth US $25,000.
- São Paulo International Film Festival (Mostra Internacional de Cinema de São Paulo): an invitation for one of the projects to take part in its Encuentro de Ideias Audiovisuais, in October 2027.
Generación J is a training program for Latin American screenwriters and directors up to 32 years old who are developing a fiction feature. Ten participants, five from Uruguay and five from partner countries, work for four days at Casa Neptuna, January 28th to 31st, coordinated by screenwriter and director Anahí Berneri.
Revoluçao Latam brings together managers, producers, exhibitors, distributors, and public and private institutions to drive the strategic alliances that the Latin American film industry needs.
Uruguay HUB Audiovisual is the festival's networking space, focused on institutional alliances, co-production, and connecting the national industry with the outside world. It includes one-to-one meetings.
Working JIIFF is a program for training, meeting, working, and creating.
