Feature Film Program 2026

The program for the 16th edition of JIIFF included a selection of international and Uruguayan films that had not yet premiered in Uruguay and, in some cases, not even in the region. In 2026, the JIIFF programmers selected six films for competition and three out of competition. As in previous years, the winner of the Official Competition was chosen by audience vote, who selected Woman and Child, by Iranian director Saeed Roustayi, as the winner.

The JIIFF films were designed to be viewed and experienced in three locations in José Ignacio: Bajada de los Pescadores, Bodega Oceánica José Ignacio, and Pavilion VIK.

Acerca del premio

Acerca del Premio

Max Patissier. Lyon, France, 1964
I always try to give new purpose to what I find, whether it's something natural or man-made. It was a wonderful challenge to transform the tree trimmings on Montevideo's Rambla into a work whose purpose is to pay homage to the mastery of a director, producer, actors, and the entire team. A film is made to dream, to entertain, to reach unexpected places. With that same approach, I created this work.
"A blend of something natural—a pruning waste found in the street destined to be burned—which ends up being cut by a milling machine, a human invention to magnify the luster of this noble wood. A process done with love, worthy of this wonderful festival.""
